The Carson Cemetery

The Carson Cemetery is located in front of the Carson House in northern Macon County on the John B. Gordon Road (formerly known as the River Road), about five miles south of Reynolds, Georgia.   The cemetery is enclosed by an iron fence, approximately 60 feet by 75 feet, with a brass plate inscribed “Bryan” on the gate.  Another iron fence encloses three graves inside the main fence. 

The following graves were located there in April, 2001:

  1. Robert Hall Carson  - April 2, 1846 - March 25, 1865
  2. Clyde Bryan Carson – September 25, 1904 – April 30, 1959
  3. William J. Carson – 1898 – 1989 – Buried North Hebron, N. Y.
  4. Ruth Wilson, wife of J. R. Carson – February 7, 1895 – May 14, 1927
  5. James Ricks Carson – February 2, 1894 – December 30, 1973
  6. James A., son of James A. and M. Carson – died January 11, 1864, aged 4 years, 6 months, 21 days
  7. James Alston Carson – September 10, 1832 – August 27, 1862
  8. Mother, Melissa Bryan, wife of James A. Carson – May 11, 1838 – December 24, 1912
  9. Lula Clyde Ricks, wife of J. J. Carson – January 26, 1863 – October 27, 1912
  10. Joseph J. Carson – April 21, 1858 – June 23, 1925
  11. Francis Marion Carson – January 4, 1892 – July 14, 1961
